Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef met with Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, at the President’s Office today, reaffirming the longstanding bilateral ties between the Maldives and Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Vice President welcomed the close and cordial relations shared by the two countries and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s continued support to the Maldives. Discussions focused on shared challenges, particularly climate change, with both sides highlighting the importance of strengthening climate resilience given the vulnerability of their respective regions.

The meeting also explored opportunities to expand cooperation in key sectors, including tourism and higher education, with an emphasis on enhancing people-to-people exchanges and institutional collaboration.

Concluding the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening bilateral relations and underscored the importance of sustained cooperation to advance mutual interests and development goals of the Maldives and Pakistan.
