STELCO has signed an MVR 11.95 million contract with Sunville Private Limited to develop a new power plant, customer service building, and boundary walls in Kaafu Thulusdhoo, with completion expected in 175 days. The new plant will be relocated to a reclaimed area to move power facilities out of residential zones, aligning with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s policy. Thulusdhoo MP Ibrahim Naseem welcomed the project, noting it will help prevent electricity disruptions during peak periods.
