Of the 714,598 tourists who visited the Maldives between January 1 and April 12, 2025, a significant 69.8 per cent—approximately 499,145 visitors—opted to stay in Maldivian resorts, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
Reflecting this high demand, the Maldives currently hosts 175 resorts with a combined total of 43,147 operational beds, underscoring the sector's strong capacity to accommodate a substantial volume of travelers.
While resorts remained the most popular choice, other accommodation types also received notable attention. The guesthouse sector, which includes 808 properties offering 13,762 beds, welcomed 175,963 tourists, accounting for 24.6 per cent of the total arrivals during the period. Meanwhile, fifteen hotels with a collective 2,038 beds accommodated 21,061 visitors, representing 2.9 per cent of the overall figure.

Looking at the broader picture, the total number of tourist arrivals from January through 12 April represents a 5.7 per cent increase over the corresponding period last year, suggesting a continued rebound and growing appeal of the Maldives as a travel destination.
In terms of daily averages, the data reveals that the country welcomed an average of 7,006 tourists per day from January to mid-April. For the first 12 days of April alone, the average daily arrivals stood at 6,848.
