First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed has called for Maldivians to move beyond mere recitation of the Holy Quran and actively implement its teachings in daily life, emphasising that practical application deserves the same attention as mastering Tajweed rules.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Eagles Community's first Quran Competition held at Thaajuddeen School last night, the First Lady advocated for excellence in all aspects of life guided by Quranic principles.

She welcomed the increasing popularity of Quran recitation competitions across the Maldives, describing it as an encouraging trend. She also noted that Maldivian children and the wider community were finding guidance and shelter under the teachings of the Holy Quran.

The competition, held during Ramadan, attracted 174 Thaajuddeen School students who participated in the recitation with text category. The First Lady presented awards to the top three performers.

During the ceremony, she also praised the Eagles Community's social development initiatives, emphasising individual responsibility in community welfare.

The Eagles Community announced plans for an expanded competition featuring additional categories including recitation without text and a specific division for Hafiz participants.
