Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) has announced that a test flight to Meemu Muli Airport is scheduled for next Friday.

The Muli Airport development project is being carried out by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

MTCC is making final arrangements ahead of the test flight operation, including completing the dredging works needed to finish the terminal and the runway.

Upon completion, this Airport will be run under the Regional Airports Company.

RACL stated they are prepared to operate the test flight on next Friday, including hiring staff and providing the required training.

To ensure all safety measures are in place, a fire truck is being dispatched to the airport’s fire station, and an antenna installed near the airport is being relocated.

RACL estimates that commercial flights will commence within a month following the test flight. Prior to the commencement of commercial flights, RACL will recruit additional staff and provide them with necessary training.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to visit Meemu Atoll next week, whereby he will officially inaugurate Meemu Muli Airport.

The development of Meemu Muli Airport started in 2021
