The Ministry of Social and Family Development, in collaboration with Ehee NGO and the Vaavu Atoll Council, has launched a programme to support families living in vulnerable and challenging conditions within the atoll.

The initiative involves in-depth discussions and assessments to evaluate the needs of affected families. These evaluations aim to provide targeted assistance, improve living conditions, and offer long-term solutions, including the provision of permanent housing for the underprivileged.

The Ministry emphasised that addressing the needs of those in distress requires a united effort, involving Government agencies, social workers, philanthropists, and the wider community. This collaborative approach is designed to ensure the sustainable development of Vaavu Atoll and create a robust support system for vulnerable populations.

As part of the programme, immediate relief efforts will be paired with strategic planning to address systemic challenges faced by the underprivileged. This initiative represents a critical step towards enhancing the quality of life for those in need, with the Ministry reaffirming its dedication to building resilient and self-sufficient communities.
