State Electric Company (STELCO) has commenced the process of recording electricity bill readings for households receiving discounts during the fasting month of Ramadan. 

The initiative, which began this morning, aligns with the Government’s commitment to fulfilling the President’s pledge.

Managing Director of STELCO, Hussain Fahmy, emphasised that the readings are being carried out with full transparency. To ensure openness, journalists were permitted to document the process, including taking photographs of the readings being recorded.

Fahmy highlighted that the primary objective of the initiative is to ensure the President’s commitment is honoured accurately. He stressed the importance of transparency in implementing the discount scheme, which is why measures have been taken to openly display how the readings are collected.

Additionally, he advised customers to verify the accuracy of their electricity meters and readings once they receive their bills. Fahmy also noted that while the majority of readings are expected to be completed today, any remaining locations where readings could not be taken will be revisited the following morning to finalise the process.
