Public Service Media (PSM) and MediaNet have signed an agreement to provide free live coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for viewers across the Maldives.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, PSM Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb said all matches of the tournament will be broadcast live and free of charge through PSM platforms.

He described the initiative as a gift from the Government to the youth, aimed at ensuring nationwide access to one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

Meanwhile, Head of Residential Sales at MediaNet, Hussain Samaan, said this marks the first time a private company in the Maldives has signed an agreement with FIFA for tournament distribution rights.

He noted that the 2026 World Cup will be the largest edition in the tournament’s history, featuring 48 national teams and more than 100 matches.

The tournament is expected to run across different time zones, with matches scheduled from afternoon through late night and early morning hours.

Previous World Cup matches were also broadcast live on TVM.
