The Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, Dr Maryam Mariya, has announced that undergraduate programmes in cybercrime and forensics will soon be offered in the Maldives.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, Dr Mariya stated that work is underway to incorporate subjects such as cybercrime, digital forensics, and related fields into the current higher education curriculum.

Minister Dr Mariya also emphasised that the role of the police goes beyond law enforcement; they must also comply with the law, demonstrate competence, and set an exemplary standard. She underscored that higher education and training are crucial to achieving these goals.

The Minister also highlighted that training programmes will be conducted to equip officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to address modern crimes and challenges.
