Palestine has been granted Observer State status at the International Labour Organization (ILO) following a resolution supported by 386 votes, including the Maldives. This milestone enables Palestine to participate in ILO meetings and appoint delegates from 2026, marking a step forward in international recognition of Palestinian labour rights. Representing the Maldives, Minister Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed expressed support for the decision and reaffirmed the Maldives’ solidarity with the Palestinian people.
