The Maldivian Parliament is set to reconvene tomorrow with a critical agenda, including a vote on the approval of two Supreme Court nominees submitted by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

This marks the first sitting since the People's Majlis commenced its second session of the year last Monday, following a two-week recess. Despite rules mandating three sittings per week, no sessions have been held since the opening.

The highlight of tomorrow’s agenda is the vote on the appointments of High Court Judge Mohamed Saleem and former High Court Judge Abdulla Hameed to the vacant posts on the Supreme Court bench. The Judiciary Committee, after reviewing the nominations, last week recommended that both individuals be approved. The matter will now be decided by the full chamber.

In addition to the judicial appointments, the People's Majlis will continue debate on proposed amendments to the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority Act. The bill was tabled by MP Mohamed Fazeel of the Dhangethi constituency on behalf of the Government.

Tomorrow’s session will also see deliberation on the appointment of a non-resident ambassador to Nepal.
