The People's Majlis (Parliament) has unanimously voted on Monday to extend the contracts of three key administrative officials at the legislative assembly.
Secretary-General Fathimath Niusha received overwhelming support with 79 votes in favour of her reappointment. Meanwhile, both Counsel-General Fathimath Filza and Sergeant-at-Arms Major (Retired) Tholhath Hassan secured their positions with unanimous backing of 80 votes each.
The reappointments were made in accordance with the Parliament's standing orders, which require the appointment of a Secretary-General, Counsel-General and Sergeant-at-Arms before the completion of the first two sessions of a new parliamentary assembly. The current assembly, which took office in May, is presently in its second session.
These votes took place during this afternoon's Parliamentary session, confirming the continuation of the current leadership team in their respective administrative roles.
