President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has commended the dedication of Maldivian public servants in a message marking United Nations Public Service Day, observed annually on June 23.

Sharing his remarks on his official X account, the President described public servants as the backbone of good governance and essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for their continued service to the nation's progress and wellbeing.

This year's UN Public Service Day is being observed under the theme "Five Years to 2030: Accelerating Public Service Delivery for a Sustainable Future," emphasising the urgent need to accelerate progress in public administration and service delivery to achieve the SDGs.

UN Public Service Day, designated by the UN General Assembly in 2002, celebrates the role of public service in development and recognises the contributions of public servants worldwide. It also seeks to inspire young people to pursue careers in the public sector.
