Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has announced that the construction of 4,000 flats currently underway in Hulhumale' is on track to be completed by July next year.
The corporation has revised its construction schedule to expedite the work, with a significant portion of the project already finished. The 4,000 flats, spread across 32 towers in Hulhumale’ Phase II, are part of the Gedhoruveriya housing scheme initiated by the previous government. Under this scheme, eligible applicants with the highest scores will receive allotments.
The construction is being undertaken by Indian firms Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIIL) and the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), who were awarded the project in 2021. The flats will feature two-bedroom and three-bedroom units, with commercial spaces planned for the lower two floors of each tower.
The FDC also confirmed that the area surrounding the flats will be equipped with health care facilities, youth centres, shops for essential goods, office spaces, cafes, and restaurants, ensuring a self-sustaining community for residents.
