Chinese Ambassador completes term in Maldives

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, concluded her term in the Maldives with a farewell visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Wang’s tenure, which began in September 2021, saw notable advancements in China-Maldives relations.

During the farewell meeting, Minister Khaleel conveyed his appreciation for her dedication to fostering strong diplomatic ties and facilitating significant development projects between the two nations. He highlighted the Ambassador's role in strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

Ambassador Wang expressed gratitude to the Maldivian Government for the support extended to her during her service. She reiterated China’s commitment to further enhancing its relationship with the Maldives and continuing collaborative efforts in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting also reviewed achievements from the past year, discussed the progress of ongoing joint projects, and explored opportunities for future partnerships.

Minister Khaleel thanked Ambassador Wang for her contributions and wished her success in her future endeavours, assuring her of a warm welcome should she visit the Maldives again.

Ambassador Wang’s departure marks the conclusion of a pivotal chapter in the China-Maldives partnership, underscored by strengthened diplomatic ties and a shared vision for continued collaboration.
