State Minister Dr Kinaanath attends NITC 2024 in Colombo

Dr Mohamed Kinaanath, Minister of State for Homeland Security and Technology and Head of the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT), participated in the inauguration of the 42nd National Information Technology Conference (NITC) 2024 on 24 November in Colombo.

He joined Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Hon. Eng. Eranga Weerarathne, to mark the commencement of this landmark event.

Organised by the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL), NITC 2024 is held under the theme "Catalyzing the Progressive Future Towards Society 5.0".

As Sri Lanka’s premier ICT event, the conference brings together leading experts, policymakers, and academics to explore the transformative role of technology in building smarter, more sustainable, and inclusive societies.

Discussions at this year’s event include topics such as AI (Artificial Intelligence) ethics, digital entrepreneurship, cybersecurity, and strategies to address the digital divide.

With its focus on Society 5.0, the conference underscores the importance of human-centric technological advancements like AI, IoT, and smart cities, offering a vision of innovation that uplifts communities and fosters sustainability.
