Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that he will undertake a visit to the Maldives from July 25 to 26, at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said he was honoured to be joining the celebrations, noting that this year also marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and the Maldives.
He added that his talks with President Dr Muizzu would add momentum to bilateral ties across diverse sectors.
This will be Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to the Maldives since beginning his third term in office.
During the two-day visit, Prime Minister Modi and President Dr Muizzu are expected to hold high-level discussions, inaugurate joint development projects, and witness the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering a broad range of cooperation.
The visit follows President Dr Muizzu’s state visit to India in October 2024, during which both leaders adopted A Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership, a strategic framework aimed at deepening collaboration in trade, regional security, and infrastructure development.
