Residents of Baa Atoll will be able to enjoy complimentary journeys on the soon-to-be-launched Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry network starting July 28th, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced.

The no-fare service will continue until August 3rd as part of a familiarisation phase, after which regular ticketed operations will commence on August 4th. Tickets will be available via the RTL mobile application and official website.

With the launch of services in Baa Atoll scheduled for July 28th, RTL ferries will begin operating across all four atolls in Zone 2 - Lhaviyani, Noonu, Raa and Baa - bringing the total number of covered atolls to 11.

Two high-speed ferries will be deployed in Baa Atoll, with operations set to begin along two main routes. The next stage will focus on linking the four atolls within Zone 2 to enhance inter-atoll travel.

Implemented by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), the RTL network is a key initiative under the Government’s plan to establish an affordable and accessible sea transport system connecting all inhabited islands across six zones nationwide.
