The Maldives will take part in the upcoming High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, scheduled to be held from 28 to 29 July 2025 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Maldivian delegation will be led by Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations. The Maldives is set to deliver a statement during the plenary session, reaffirming its principled and long-standing support for the rights of the Palestinian people.

The country’s participation reflects its consistent support for multilateral efforts aimed at achieving peace, stability, and justice for the Palestinian people. The Government continues to advocate for the realisation of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, in line with relevant UN resolutions and based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Convened under United Nations General Assembly Resolution 79/81, titled Peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine, the Conference serves as an important platform to reaffirm the international consensus on the two-state solution.

The Conference is co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia. Ahead of the plenary session, a Ministerial High-level Meeting will be held to present and discuss the outcomes of the Working Groups established for the Conference.
