Maldives women’s tennis team secures victory over Bhutan

Maldives women's tennis team defeated Bhutan in three straight games in the Asia and Oceania Group 3 of the Billy Jean King Cup in Bahrain.

In the first singles match, Layan Mohamed Shamin secured a dominant victory for Maldives, over Bhutan’s Tshokey, winning 6-2, 6-1. In the second singles match, Aara Aasaal Azim continued the winning streak, defeating Bhutan’s Dorji 6-3, 6-0.

The Maldives pair of Nayara Usama Ali and Manha Mohamed Ali completed the clean sweep, winning the doubles match against Bhutan’s Dorji and Tshokey 7-5, 6-2.

While Maldives suffered a loss to Myanmar in their opening match, they bounced back with a convincing 3-0 victory over Iraq in their second match.

In the singles matches against Iraq on November 25th, Layan Shamin defeated Zafal Khaleel 6-0, 6-3, and Aara Aasaal Azim secured a 6-2, 6-1 win.

The Maldives team, comprising Aara Aasaal Azim, Layan Shamin, Nayara Usama Ali, and Manha Mohamed, is participating in the Billy Jean King Cup for the third time.
