Ms Hannan Sulieman, the Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director, Management, at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), met with Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef at the President’s Office today. 

The Vice President expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s ongoing support and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to advancing children’s welfare through continued collaboration.

The meeting further underscored both parties’ commitment to deepening their partnership in safeguarding and promoting children’s rights. Ms Sulieman praised the Maldives for significant progress in education, healthcare, and child rights, noting the country’s near-universal literacy rate. 

She also endorsed the Government’s 20-year National Development Masterplan and stressed the importance of engaging youth in climate change discussions.
