President Dr Mohamed Muizzu held talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev on Monday at the Crowne Plaza Tianjin Meijiangnan.

The meeting opened with both leaders recognising the longstanding and close cooperation that has defined relations between the Maldives and Azerbaijan.

Discussions centred on exploring new opportunities for collaboration. The two sides focused on ways to deepen people-to-people connections, expand economic cooperation, and encourage growth in trade and investment between the two countries.

During the talks, President Dr Muizzu expressed his appreciation to President Aliyev for the hospitality extended to him during his official visit for the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29).

The two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to further advancing relations between the Maldives and Azerbaijan across common priorities.
