IndiGo has officially commenced operations from Terminal 1 at Velana International Airport (VIA). The transfer of services was marked by a ceremony attended by senior representatives from Maldives Immigration, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), and IndiGo. The event included the inauguration of IndiGo’s check-in counters, the presentation of commemorative gifts to 218 departing passengers, and a ceremonial water salute to welcome flight 6E1127, which arrived with 229 passengers.

IndiGo, Asia’s second-largest airline, first commenced services to the Maldives in 2018. It is now the eighth carrier to operate from Terminal 1, and the first Indian airline to do so. MACL reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of service for all partner airlines and passengers.
