President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Dr Maryam Mariya, Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, to temporarily oversee the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare.

This appointment follows the resignation of Dr Aishath Rameela from her position as Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare due to health conditions.

President Dr Muizzu expressed sincere appreciation for Dr Aishath Rameela's dedicated service, acknowledging her commitment despite facing health challenges.

Dr Aishath Rameela, who has been serving the Maldivian government since 1990, previously held positions including Minister of State for Health before being appointed to her most recent role when President Dr Muizzu assumed office in November 2023.
