The Coastal Clean-up 2025, organised by HDC in collaboration with Government agencies and environmental partners, cleared 2,122.7kg of waste from local coastlines. The collection included 252.7kg of recyclable plastic, 115kg of other plastics, 63kg of metal and aluminium, 52kg of glass, and more than 1,600kg of mixed debris. Volunteers carried out the cleanup while partners such as MOPA, Parley Maldives, and Ripple Effect assisted in effectively segregating the collected waste. Organisers stressed that the initiative both reduced coastal pollution and encouraged community participation in environmental protection.
