Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) reported that 433 tonnes of goods were exported to 20 countries last month through the sea-to-air cargo service, equivalent to 111 TEUs. The service, launched jointly by MPL and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) on 15 May, has grown rapidly since Turkish Airlines first participated, with nine airlines now involved. MPL stated that the expanding sea-to-air cargo operations have become a significant source of national income, contributing millions of dollars to the Maldivian economy.
