The Maldives Police Service has arrested a man in connection with a drug case from Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaram. 

The arrest was made following a joint operation by the Kulhudhuffushi City Police Station and Nolhivaram Police Station. 

The 48 year-old suspect was arrested on 29 October based on intelligence that he was attempting to smuggle drugs into the island.

Officers discovered two packets of suspected narcotics after searching a box and a can brought ashore from a boat. He was presented before the court and remanded in custody for 15 days pending further investigation.

Police has confirmed that the case remains under investigation.
