The Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure has issued registries to over 2,000 recipients of land plots from Kaafu Gulhifalhu.

According to the ministry, a total of 2,032 recipients have received their registries since the issuance process began on July 12. The ministry has extended the deadline for recipients who have yet to collect their registries, allowing them to request appointments until next Thursday.

The Gulhifalhu reclamation project, awarded to Dutch company Boskalis for MVR 2 billion, began in July 2024. While the initial land draw was conducted under the previous administration, the current Government has since revised the island’s land-use plan twice.

A re-draw was subsequently held on May 30, and registries are now being distributed based on the updated plan.

Additionally, the ministry has amended the Gulhifalhu land plot agreement, citing inconsistencies with existing laws.
