The Thilamalé Bridge project has reached 66.26 per cent completion, according to the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, signifying progress in one of the Maldives’ largest infrastructure projects. The main construction work is currently focused on connecting the pillars between Malé City and Vilimalé, with 98 per cent of the pillars now completed and 263 piles constructed. The ministry confirmed that 437 cast segments have been connected between Malé and Vilimalé, while 912 of 1,222 deck segments have been cast at the Gulhifalhu site, which serves as the project’s main base.

In addition to bridge construction, road works in Gulhifalhu and the causeway connection to the bridge have commenced. The total length of the Thilamalé connectivity, including bridges and causeways, spans 6.7 kilometres. The Government is accelerating efforts to complete the Malé–Vilimalé link by next year, underscoring the project’s importance in enhancing regional mobility and supporting urban expansion in the Greater Malé area.
