Condor resumes flights to Maldives from VIA Terminal 1 --

Velana International Airport (VIA) has begun offering Condor flight’s services at the new Terminal 1.

A special ceremony was held at Terminal 1 to commemorate the resumption of services. The event was officiated by West Management Corporation (WMC) Managing Director Mujthaba Jaleel, with senior representatives from Condor and key partners in attendance, including Condor’s Area Manager for International Stations, Stefan McKenna, its Regional Manager for Asia and the Indian Ocean, Ron Plenn, as well as officials from MACL.

As part of the ceremony, Condor’s check-in counters at Terminal 1 were officially opened, enabling the first group of 302 passengers to be processed through the terminal. The first Condor flight to utilise the reopened facility, DE2320 bound for Frankfurt, carried 277 passengers and departed without incident.

Condor first began operating flights to Malé on 31 October 1981. The event represented the airline’s first return to Terminal 1 since its original operations more than 40 years ago.
