The Government of the Maldives has strongly condemned the recent attacks carried out by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza, which have resulted in the loss of civilian lives and constituted a violation of the established ceasefire agreement.
In a statement, the Government reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and urged the international community to take urgent and decisive action to halt the ongoing violence and called for full and immediate adherence to the ceasefire terms and expressed deep concern that Israel’s continued actions risk amounting to the systematic displacement of the Palestinian population.
The Government reiterated its steadfast support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Maldives has consistently aligned itself with international calls for the protection of civilians in Gaza, particularly amid repeated cycles of violence. Since the beginning of the latest escalation, human rights organisations and humanitarian agencies have warned of worsening conditions in the enclave, where overcrowding, shortages of essential supplies, and large-scale displacement continue to raise international alarm.
For decades, Maldivian foreign policy has maintained a strong pro-Palestine stance, consistently urging a sustainable resolution grounded in diplomacy and international law.
