93 road development projects underway nationwide

The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced that since President Dr Mohamed Muizzu assumed office, a total of 93 road development projects are being carried out, comprising of six projects already completed and 87 newly contracted works across the country.
According to the Ministry, five road development projects funded through the State budget have now been completed. These include projects in Shaviyani Milandhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo, Fuvahmulah City, Addu City, and Raa Ungoofaaru. The Ministry also noted that the MVR 400 million Addu City road development project undertaken by the previous administration under the Indian Line of Credit was completed.
In addition to completed works, the Ministry confirmed that road development projects across 18 atolls across the nation have been formally contracted and handed over to private companies.
The Ministry also stated that construction of the Addu City link road has commenced, while contracts for road development in Meedhoo and Hulhudhoo have been awarded as part of the broader Addu region upgrade.
The Government is currently implementing more than 1,800 development projects nationwide, with over 1,300 projects completed within the first two years of the current Administration. The Ministry said that project awarding and implementation have significantly accelerated since President Dr Muizzu took office, enabling delayed or stalled projects to move forward under clarified financing and contracting processes.
