Aminiya School has recently reached its historic 80th anniversary, with celebrations beginning ten days before its annual commemoration on 28th November, drawing together generations of alumni, students, staff, and community members alongside special activities to mark the day.

The festivities kicked off with an eagerly anticipated 10-day countdown, building excitement throughout the school community. Following this, students gathered to form the number '80' – a moment captured in an aerial drone photograph – before being treated to class parties on the day itself.

The highlight of these celebratory events is the Ameenee Ufaa fair, which began on 5th December at 6 p.m., and will continue until 7th December. On 7th December, this Saturday, the fair will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Speaking to MMTV, the Deputy Principal (morning session) of Aminiya School, Fathimath Hilmy, said that Ameenee Ufaa is open to everyone associated with the school, including families and the general public.

She explained that this is a fun event with various activities, and visitors can enter by purchasing a bib number. According to her, participants will receive a special gold medal at the end of their visit. She warmly invited both past and present members of the school community to join in this celebration.

Fathimath Hilmy noted that a photo gallery is included in these festivities. The gallery, housed in the hall, showcases the school's 80-year history through memories, photographs, and a timeline.

Open for public viewing, it features students participating in different activities, and honours different teachers and staff members throughout the years. The exhibition also pays particular tribute to pioneering leaders, educators, and alumni who shaped the school's distinguished reputation.

Additionally, the Deputy Principal highlighted plans for a Gala night for all staff, featuring special recognition for teachers.

Founded by former President Mohamed Amin Didi in 1944, Aminiya School broke new ground as the Maldives' first girls' secondary school, playing a pivotal role in advancing women's education in the country.

While it maintained its status as an all-girls institution for 67 years, 2011 marked a significant shift when the school expanded to include primary education alongside its established secondary programme for years 8, 9, and 10.
