Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim has stated that the current Administration has advanced the heritage sector to an unprecedented level.
He made the remarks at a prize-giving ceremony for literary and handwriting competitions organised by the Dhivehi Bahuge Academy (Dhivehi Language Academy).
Speaking at the event, the Minister outlined three key Government policies for heritage development, which include generating income from heritage resources, integrating heritage into everyday life, and digitising heritage for future generations.
The Minister noted that while heritage was once seen as a burden on the State budget, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s Government now regards it as an area worthy of investment.
He highlighted that several restoration and development projects of historic monuments are currently underway. In addition, new initiatives are scheduled to begin in January, including the launch of an interactive, immersive museum, the first of its kind in the Maldives.
The Minister attributed the sector’s positive progress to President Dr Muizzu’s clear vision and the strong cooperation among relevant institutions.
