The 49th BML National Swimming Competition has concluded following four days of competition featuring 157 swimmers from nine clubs.

The tournament, organised by the Swimming Association of Maldives and held at the Hulhumalé Swimming Pool from December 22 to 25, saw 146 events contested in junior, senior and masters categories.

Awards were presented at the closing ceremony, where Mohamed Ash'al Adam was named Best Male Swimmer in the EAD category, followed by Moosa Jaish Sanaulla Shakeeb in second place and Ahmad Dhaa'i Miruza in third. In the junior division, Zaakin Ashraf Rasheed won the Best Male Swimmer title, ahead of Alfie Samah Haleem and Mohamed Alyan Shifan in joint second and Ismail Haam Hussain in third. Tazkihyah Mirsaad secured the Best Female Junior Swimmer award, while Dalia Latheef placed second and Mariyam Ayra finished third.

In the senior category, Mohamed Aan Hussain was recognised as the Best Male Swimmer, with Rihan Shiham placing second and Ibrahim Maadh third. Among the female seniors, Ayaana Areef won the Best Swimmer title, followed by Zainab Abdulla Shafeeq and Fathimath Anjal Fayaz in second and third, respectively. In the Masters division, Hussain Mubah claimed first place, with Mohamed Amir placing second and Ahmed Shafeeq third.

The Maldives Lifeguard Association (MLA) won both the men’s and women’s overall team championships. Maziya Sports and Recreation finished second in the men’s division, with Feena Swimming Academy placing third. In the women’s division, Moodhu Malimi secured second place and Fina Swimming Academy took third.

The competition was sponsored by Bank of Maldives (BML), which has partnered with the Swimming Association since 2016 to support the sport’s development. BML recently renewed its partnership for an additional three years, reinforcing its long-term commitment to national sporting programmes.
