Anchor block installation and utility works are currently underway under Phase Two of the Malé North Side Boduthakurufaanu Road Development Project, as construction progresses ahead of reclamation activities, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has said.
Providing an update on the project, MTCC said curbstone installation on the building side of the road has reached 85 per cent completion and is expected to be completed within the week. The company also confirmed that installation of new wastewater and water lines has reached 45 per cent, while cable junction works have now commenced.
The redevelopment project covers a total length of 1,088 metres from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the North Harbour. Of this, 140 metres under the first phase have already been completed, with works continuing on the remaining sections under the second phase.
The project includes widening sections of the road, improving underground utility networks, and preparing the lagoon-side area for reclamation works. MTCC said the development is aimed at enhancing accessibility in Malé City through the construction of modern, pedestrian-friendly roads. MTCC aims to complete the second phase of the road development before Ramadan.
