The People’s National Congress (PNC) has conducted door-to-door campaign activities in the Central Maafannu constituency as part of its outreach efforts ahead of the Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections.
The campaign involved visits to households within the constituency, with party representatives engaging directly with residents to discuss local concerns and election priorities. Among those who took part were Minister at the President’s Office Ali Arif, Advisor to the Minister of Youth Affairs and former Deputy Mayor of Malé City Ahmed Nareesh, PNC’s mayoral candidate for Malé City Moosa Ali Jaleel, and Aishath Alaika Adnan, who is contesting for the position of Chair of the Women’s Development Committee.
Candidates contesting council seats and WDC positions for the constituency on PNC tickets also participated in the door-to-door activities, joining efforts to strengthen engagement with voters at the community level.
PNC has been conducting similar campaign activities across Malé City and in several atolls. The party’s campaign manager has called for sustained door-to-door outreach in the capital, while also urging candidates and party members to continue engagement efforts in the islands.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has previously encouraged party members to engage closely with the public during the campaign period, emphasising the importance of understanding people’s concerns, building strong relationships with communities, and maintaining those connections beyond the election period.
As the local council elections approach, PNC has also taken steps to strengthen its internal structures, including the appointment of internal organisers and measures aimed at enhancing party governance and coordination ahead of the polls.
