Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has been contracted to complete the remaining works of the sewerage system in Gaffe Alifu Gemanafushi. The contract, valued at MVR 17.6 million, was signed by Minister of State for Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure Hassan Rasheed and MWSC Managing Director Abdul Matheen Mohamed, with the project scheduled for completion within six months.

Under the agreement, MWSC will complete, test, and commission the sewerage system, including the installation of pump stations, sewerage pipelines in residential areas, sea outfalls, and household connections. Gemanafushi, which has a population of over 1,300, had its water system established in 2023. The Government noted that several infrastructure projects were left incomplete previously, leading to contractor terminations and reassignment to ensure timely completion of essential services.
