President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured residents of Huraa that the development of the island’s harbour will align with their aspirations.
Speaking during a meeting with the island community as part of his tour of Malé Atoll, the President detailed plans included in the 2024 national budget, emphasising priorities for housing, education, and healthcare.
For Huraa, the upcoming budget allocates resources for the construction of a multipurpose hall at the island’s school and significant upgrades to the health centre. These enhancements will include scanning services and other essential medical facilities aimed at addressing the community’s healthcare needs comprehensively.
President Dr Muizzu praised the collaborative efforts between the constituency’s Parliament member and the local council in facilitating the establishment of an ATM on the island—a critical infrastructure milestone. He encouraged continued cooperation to tackle other pressing development priorities, highlighting the role of effective partnerships in driving progress.
Looking ahead, the President assured residents that development initiatives would adhere closely to their expectations and campaign pledges. He identified 2025 and 2026 as pivotal years for implementing and completing various projects, noting that any unmet priorities in 2024 would be addressed in subsequent years. This phased approach, he said, reflects the Government’s commitment to meaningful and sustained progress for Huraa.
