The Rahafaiy exhibition, organised by senior citizens, has opened with a showcase of traditional products central to Maldivian cuisine.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Minister of Language, Culture and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim, alongside the Minister of Social and Family Development, Dr Aishath Shiham.

Minister Dr Shiham stated that the exhibition aims to create a welcoming and engaging environment for senior citizens while also passing on cultural knowledge to younger generations. She noted that the initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage to ensure children and youth learn about traditional Maldivian culinary practices.

Minister Adam Naseer Ibrahim said the exhibition provides an important platform for senior citizens to showcase their talents, adding that such activities help revive traditional knowledge within households and strengthen intergenerational learning and social bonds.

Participants expressed satisfaction at being able to hold the exhibition, describing it as a valuable opportunity to present Maldivian tastes and culinary heritage in one place.

The exhibition features 77 participants and displays more than 2,000 items of various types. A special showcase held during the opening included 33 varieties of traditional Maldivian flavours prepared by members of the Nadi community.

The Rahafaiy exhibition is open to the public daily from 14:00 to 18:00 and from 20:00 to 22:00, except on Fridays.
