The Maldives National Shooting Team returned to the country with four bronze medals from the Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship held in New Delhi, India, from 2–14 February. The team was welcomed at Velana International Airport by Commissioner of Sports Mohamed Thalal, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Sports and the Shooting Association of Maldives. 

The medals were won in the 10m air rifle men’s youth team and mixed junior team events, as well as the 10m air pistol women’s team and men’s youth team events, with officials noting that the success is particularly significant given the team’s limited training opportunities, describing the performance as a milestone in the development of shooting sports in the Maldives.
