The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Island Aviation Services Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in matters related to Hajj and Umrah, as well as other associated areas.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony held on Monday. Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed signed on behalf of the Ministry, while Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas signed on behalf of Island Aviation.

The MoU outlines measures aimed at improving air travel services for Maldivian pilgrims. These include efforts to increase flight frequency between Malé and Jeddah, enhance overall service standards, and streamline travel arrangements for those undertaking Hajj and Umrah.

The agreement also provides for religious training programmes for Island Aviation staff. In addition, the airline will participate in events organised by the Ministry, including Hajj and Umrah conferences and public awareness initiatives.

The Ministry stated that the partnership is intended to improve coordination between the two institutions and strengthen services provided to Maldivian pilgrims travelling for religious purposes.
