The State Trading Organization (STO) has resumed the sale of 10 kilogram cooking gas cylinders after resolving a temporary supply disruption that affected availability in the domestic market.

The company said the difficulties were linked to challenges faced by its subsidiary, Maldive Gas, in securing adequate supplies. As a result, the volume of cooking gas released to the market had been reduced in recent days.

STO noted that supply disruptions were being experienced both globally and across the region, which in turn impacted availability in the Maldives. During this period, Maldive Gas sold 7 kilogram cylinders at discounted rates in place of the standard 10 kilogram cylinders to help ease the inconvenience faced by customers.

The company confirmed that the issue has now been addressed and that sales of 10 kilogram cylinders resumed today.

STO assured the public that supply operations have returned to normal and that efforts are ongoing to maintain stable availability in the market.
