The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced temporary restrictions on the operation of goods vehicles and heavy vehicles in the Greater Malé area during Ramadan 1447.
The Ministry said the measures will be in effect throughout the month of Ramadan and from the 1st to the 7th of Shawwal. The restrictions apply to vehicles used for transporting goods, including heavy vehicles operating within the Greater Malé region.
From the 1st to the 19th day of Ramadan, as well as from the 1st to the 7th of Shawwal, the transport of goods will be prohibited between 8:00 am and 9:30 am, and again from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
From the 20th day of Ramadan until the end of the month, heavy vehicles and goods transport will be restricted between 4:30 pm and 8:00 pm.
The Ministry stated that violations of the regulation will result in a fine of MVR 750 under the Land Transport Act. Authorities have urged all drivers and businesses to adhere to the designated hours.
Such restrictions are imposed each year during Ramadan to reduce traffic congestion in the Malé area and ensure smoother traffic flow during peak periods.
