Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar has stated that changes being introduced by the Government to the decentralisation system will enhance public participation and engagement in council administration.

The Minister made the remarks in an exclusive interview with MMTV during a door-to-door campaign in the West Maafannu constituency, attended by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

During the interview, Adam Shareef said that securing seats uncontested in the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections for the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) represents a major political achievement for President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

He described the seats won uncontested by the PNC as a significant success, stating that the result reflects public confidence that Government services are best delivered by representatives aligned with the party’s ideology.

Minister Adam Shareef further said the outcome demonstrates support for the policies of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, as well as for the services provided to citizens and the pace at which the Government is implementing its programmes.

The Minister added that the party’s target in the council elections is to secure 80 per cent of the total seats.
