President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended congratulations to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi following her re-election in Japan, conveying best wishes on behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives.
In a message to the Japanese leader, the President noted that her renewed mandate from the National Diet reflects continued public confidence in her leadership and direction for the country. He said the Maldives looks forward to working closely with Japan during her new term in office.
The President also highlighted the long-standing partnership between the Maldives and Japan, noting that the two countries will mark 60 years of diplomatic relations in 2027. He expressed appreciation for Japan’s longstanding support to the Maldives, particularly in areas of socio-economic development, which he said has had a lasting impact on the country.
President Dr Muizzu said he was confident that bilateral ties would continue to strengthen in the coming years, translating shared values into practical cooperation that delivers tangible benefits to both nations.
He concluded by extending his personal best wishes to Prime Minister Takaichi for her new term, as well as continued peace and prosperity for the people of Japan.
