Fenaka Corporation has begun the process of deploying new generator sets to four islands to strengthen electricity supply and address service disruptions reported by residents.

In posts shared on social media, Fenaka said new generators have been allocated to Laamu Isdhoo and Dhanbidhoo, Baa Kendhoo, and Haa Alifu. The combined additional generation capacity totals 2,200 kilowatts.

According to Fenaka, a 600 kilowatt generator has been allocated to Isdhoo, a 400 kilowatt generator to Dhanbidhoo, and 600 kilowatt generators each to Kendhoo and Kelaa. The corporation said generator sets for Isdhoo and Dhanbidhoo are scheduled to be transported to the islands on Monday, 23 February, while the units designated for Kendhoo and Kelaa are currently in Malé undergoing customs clearance and are expected to be shipped within 48 hours.

Residents of the four islands have raised concerns over electricity disruptions in recent weeks, including power outages and technical losses. Fenaka said the difficulties have been compounded by higher electricity demand during Ramadan.

The corporation said the new generator sets are expected to improve service reliability once installed. Fenaka reiterated its commitment to strengthening dependable and sustainable electricity services across the Maldives.
