The Maldives Police Service has said vehicles parked illegally along Boduthakurufaanu Magu will be towed as part of traffic management measures being enforced in Malé City during Ramadan.

Police said a special traffic monitoring operation is underway across the Greater Malé Region due to increased congestion during the holy month. While recent adjustments to Boduthakurufaanu Magu have eased congestion in some sections, illegal and double parking continue to disrupt traffic along parts of the road.

According to police, double parking along the stretch between the North Harbour or Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) area and the Maafannu Police Station has increased congestion along this corridor, the police added that enforcement action will be taken against offenders.

Police said they have received complaints from the public regarding illegal parking in various sections of Boduthakurufaanu Magu and urged motorists to remove vehicles parked in restricted areas. Drivers were also advised to avoid parking in prohibited zones to prevent obstruction to traffic flow.

The Police Service noted that several major roads in Malé City are used by public transport buses, including Ameenee Magu and Majeedhee Magu, and reiterated that parking along both sides of main roads by motorcycles and four-wheel vehicles continues to cause difficulties for buses and other road users.
