An agreement has been signed to implement Package Two of the Disaster Resilience Enhancement Project to improve Malé City’s drainage system under the Government of Japan’s Economic and Social Development Programme.

The project has been awarded to Japan’s Tech International Inc, with the agreement signed by State Minister for Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure, Hassan Rasheed on behalf of the Maldivian government and Tech International Inc Director Makoto Yokoshi.

According to the Ministry, the project includes automating 16 pump stations across Malé, establishing a centralised monitoring station to oversee operations, and procuring a jetting vehicle for drainage maintenance, aimed at strengthening flood management and urban resilience in the capital.
