Fenaka Corporation has commissioned an additional reverse osmosis (RO) plant in Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo, increasing the island’s water production capacity.

As part of ongoing efforts to provide a more stable and sustainable water supply service, the newly installed 50-tonne RO plant has now been brought into operation.

Prior to this upgrade, water services on the island were provided through a single 50-tonne plant, producing 100 tonnes of water per day. With the addition of the new plant, daily water production capacity has doubled, ensuring that supply can better meet growing demand.

The increased capacity is expected to resolve challenges previously faced in meeting consumer demand and improve the reliability of water services across the island.

Fenaka stated that the new RO plant began supplying water to the network on 16 February, a key step towards enhancing service quality and ensuring uninterrupted access to safe water for residents of Ihavandhoo.

Ihavandhoo is one of the most populous islands among the 14 inhabited islands of Haa Alifu Atoll, with a population of approximately 3,000 residents.
